Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) is a major hub airport near Mumbai in India. This page covers the essentials β IATA + ICAO codes, location, live flight status, and hotels nearby.
Getting to + from the city
Pre-paid taxi from the official kiosk at arrivals β βΉ650β900 to Colaba/Fort (~$8β11) and 45β90 min depending on traffic. Uber + Ola work, with similar prices. The Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) connects T2 to Bandra-Kurla Complex; useful if you're staying near Bandra. Don't take a kaali-peeli (black-yellow) taxi without the pre-paid voucher β they're meterless to airport visitors.
Terminals
T2: integrated international + domestic, opened 2014, stunning architecture (look up at the peacock-feather ceiling). All major international + most Indian carriers now use T2. The old T1 still handles a handful of IndiGo + GoFirst domestic flights only β confirm which terminal.
What's actually good
Plaza Premium Lounge + the Air India Maharaja Lounge both serve actual Indian food (dosa station, biryani, paan). The Curio Collection retail wing has the best airport art collection on Earth β wander even if you're not shopping. Vada pav from the food court is honest + cheap (βΉ50). Wi-Fi via SMS to a registered Indian number β most international SIMs won't receive it; use Airalo.
Avoid
Booking domestic-international transfers with less than 4 hours (T1βT2 is a 30-min taxi). Drinking tap water. Photographing security personnel. Skipping the monsoon (JuneβSeptember) flight delays buffer β runway flooding is real. Trying to walk anywhere β there are no pedestrian paths around BOM.
