Getting to + from the city
Metro Line 10 to central Chengdu in 50 min (¥6). Faster: airport express bus to Tianfu Square in 40 min (¥10). Taxi to the city is ¥60–90 and 45 min. Chengdu also has TFU (Tianfu International), 60 km southeast — confirm which airport before booking ground transport.
Terminals
T1: most international + some domestic. T2: mostly domestic. The two terminals are 800 m apart connected by free shuttle. Check terminal in advance — they're not intuitive to walk between.
What's actually good
Sichuan food airside is the destination — try the Chen Mapo Tofu outlet, or the local hotpot chain in T2. The Air China Lounge (T1) has the spicy ma-la peanuts you'll miss when you leave. Free Wi-Fi via passport scan kiosk. Massage chairs everywhere; the airport understands that Chengdu's vibe is slower.
Avoid
Confusing CTU with TFU (60 km apart, different stations). Tipping (not done in mainland China). Photographing the military aviation memorial on the airport grounds. Booking tight connections (Chengdu fog is a real thing November–February, delays are common). Buying souvenir mapo tofu spice mix here — it's twice the city price.
