Getting to + from the city
KLIA Ekspres train to KL Sentral in 28 min for MYR 55 (~$12). KLIA Transit is the slower stop-train version, same destination, MYR 35. Taxi is MYR 75–110 (~$17–25) and 45–70 min. Grab is similar. KUL has two main terminals — confirm which one (KLIA1 vs KLIA2 / klia2).
Terminals
KLIA1: Malaysia Airlines + oneworld + most Star/SkyTeam international. KLIA2: AirAsia + low-cost (the world's largest low-cost terminal). They're 2 km apart connected by free shuttle + a paid express train. NOT walkable.
What's actually good
Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge (KLIA1) is top-tier — real nasi lemak + laksa stations. Plaza Premium First (KLIA1) takes Priority Pass + has private suites. Food: skip the food court airside if you have time, the Mahsuri Restaurant does real Malaysian. KLIA2's Naughty Nuri's (pork ribs, halal variant) is honest.
Avoid
Confusing KLIA1 + KLIA2 (different terminals, 2 km + 10 min apart). Booking under-90-min inter-terminal transfers (security + walks). Carrying durian on the train (banned, fined). Currency exchange at airport (use a Wise card + city ATM).
