Murtala Muhammed International Airport
Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) is a major hub airport near Lagos in Nigeria. This page covers the essentials โ IATA + ICAO codes, location, live flight status, and hotels nearby.
Getting to + from the city
Taxi is the only reliable option. Bolt or Uber from the international arrivals door โ โฆ8,000โ15,000 to Victoria Island (~$8โ15) depending on time + traffic. The drive is 45 min to 2.5 hours; Lagos traffic ('go-slow') is the city's defining feature. There's no train, no useful bus, no metro for tourists. Pre-arrange a hotel pickup if arriving after dark.
Terminals
MMIA (Murtala Muhammed International, the main terminal) handles all international. Domestic flights use the separate GAT terminal 1 km away โ there's a free shuttle, but 20 min for a connection is risky. Most international carriers (BA, Delta, KLM, Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar, Turkish) operate from MMIA.
What's actually good
Plaza Premium Lounge at MMIA international airside is the realistic option for a layover (Priority Pass accepted). Food court is functional, nothing remarkable. Wi-Fi is spotty โ buy a local SIM at the MTN/Glo counter just outside arrivals (โฆ5,000 for 10 GB) or have an Airalo eSIM ready.
Avoid
Accepting 'help' from anyone in uniform asking for your passport at arrivals. Carrying physical cash visibly. Hailing a yellow taxi from outside the arrivals hall โ use Bolt or a pre-arranged car. Booking onward domestic connections with less than 4h buffer (terminal change + traffic risk). Skipping the yellow-fever vaccination card (required for entry).
