Chicago O'Hare International Airport
Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is a major hub airport near Chicago in United States. This page covers the essentials โ IATA + ICAO codes, location, live flight status, and hotels nearby.
Getting to + from the city
CTA Blue Line to Downtown Chicago in 45 min for $5. Taxi is $40โ50 to the Loop + tip. Uber/Lyft is similar. Metra trains from O'Hare Transfer to Chicago Union Station are fast (30 min) but limited service. Avoid driving 90/94 East during rush โ gridlock is reliable.
Terminals
T1: United domestic + Star Alliance international (United's main hub). T2: Delta + Alaska. T3: American (oneworld hub) + AA international. T5 (international): non-US-airline international arrivals. T1-T3 connected airside; T5 needs the ATS people-mover.
What's actually good
United Polaris Lounge (T1) is one of the best US international lounges. American Flagship Lounge (T3) competes. The Chicago First Class Lounge food court has a Tortas Frontera (Rick Bayless) outlet โ go. Free yoga room in T3. The interterminal walking tunnel between T1's B + C concourses (neon-lit Helmut Jahn architecture) is worth the photo.
Avoid
Booking <2h sub-T5 international-to-domestic connections. Renting a car if you're staying downtown (parking is punishment + transit is great). Skipping the deep-dish pizza only because it's at the airport โ the Beggars Pizza outlet is honest. Underestimating winter delays (Dec-Feb deicing routine adds 60+ min to most departures).
