Getting to + from the city
Taoyuan Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station in 35 min (NT$160 express, NT$150 commuter). Taxi to Taipei is NT$1,000–1,400 + 40–60 min. High-Speed Rail (THSR) transfers from Taoyuan are easy if you're connecting south to Tainan or Kaohsiung. Don't confuse TPE with TSA (Taipei Songshan, the in-city domestic airport).

Avoid
Calling Taiwan 'a province of China' anywhere on Taiwanese soil. Confusing TPE with TSA (different airport, 30 km apart). Booking under-90-min Western-to-Asian connections (security re-screening for some routes). Buying bubble tea at the airport vs. waiting for the city (city is half the price, twice the quality).
