Getting to + from the city
SBB train to Zürich HB (main station) in 10 min for CHF 7. S-Bahn to other Swiss cities directly from the airport rail station underneath. Taxi to central Zürich is CHF 50–70 and 20 min. Tram 10 to Zentrum/Bahnhofstrasse for CHF 7. The Swiss public-transit integration is best-in-class.
Terminals
Single integrated terminal with A, B, D, E gates. Swiss International is the home carrier (Star Alliance hub). E-gates are non-Schengen — connected by underground Skymetro train (free, 3 min). All connections feasible in 60 min if you're not changing alliances.
What's actually good
Swiss Senator Lounge (E) is one of Europe's best — Swiss breakfast, à la carte dining. Aspire Lounge (Priority Pass) at D is the realistic non-status option. Food: Sprüngli Luxemburgerli pastries (real Swiss chocolate + macarons), Hiltl vegetarian (the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant, founded 1898). Skip duty-free Swiss watches — same price as the city.
Avoid
Buying anything assuming Swiss prices are normal. Don't tip beyond rounding (service included by law). Smoking outside designated rooms (CHF 200 fine). Booking flights without padding for fog (Nov–Feb Zürich basin fog is real). Trying to walk between non-Schengen and Schengen without passing through immigration (you can't).
