at Cajamarca was the single most consequential event of the Spanish conquest of South America. Francisco Pizarro (c. 1471-1541), the Trujillo-born Spanish conquistador, had received the 1529 Capitulación de Toledo royal grant authorizing conquest of the Inca-territory provinces.
