Make the Perfect Cold Brew

The secret is in the grind and the steep time. Cold brew requires a coarser grind than regular coffee and a longer steeping time to extract the right flavors without bitterness.

Steps

  1. Grind your coffee beans to a coarse consistency, similar to sea salt.
  2. Mix 1 cup of ground coffee with 4 cups of cold water in a large jar or pitcher.
  3. Cover and let it steep in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours, but up to 24 hours for a stronger flavor.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth into another container.
  5. Add water or ice as desired to dilute and serve.

Pro tip: Use a French press for an easy strain method. Simply pour the mixture into the press, plunge, and serve.
